I signed in before I actually finished reading your page, but it looks like a very good overall view of dmx 512. As you said a lot of people aren't ready to impart any of their expertise but I think a lot of the time its to hide the fact they don't know

Apart from everything else,(i.e. the ability to run multitudinous channels on a single mic lead, rather than next years mortgage in tons of copper and pvc), I was able, successfully to run lights, pyrotechnics, "smells", fans, heaters, audio and video equ
pment etc., etc., for a long running show, (6-8 times a day, 7 days a week) "AUSTRALIA_GATE Theatre - Officially opened by Prime Minister Keating - at Southbank in elbourne
Thanks to "SHOWCAD" by AXXON in the UK, the entire
comlexity was simply and reliably controlled by an old 286 computer running the input from SMPTE time code from the 24 track reel to reel that also ran the multi-rig slide and twin video projector show.
